Друзья-израильтяне (и не только). Вы конечно уже видели ссылки на эту запись. Ну либо не видели. В общем, дело такое. Час вашего времени могут дать хорошему человеку (я его знаю лично довольно много лет) новую жизнь. Буду лично благодарен. Касательно процедуры (для тех, кто не в курсе). Я раньше думал, что пересадка эта - штука весьма опасная для донора - шутка ли, мозг пересадить. Ничего подобного. Три дня пить какие-то лекарства, потом - простое переливание крови с фильтрацией. Ну а для начала просто надо съездить, сдать кровь - пять кубиков, как в поликлинике на рутинной проверке. Скорее всего будет мимо денег, но а вдруг...

Я вот так написал:

Dear friends!

A friend of mine, a young hi-tech man like ourselves (his name is Ilya Tovbeyn), has been diagnosed with Leukemia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leukemia). Possibly his only chance is to receive a bone marrow transfer. However, finding a matching donor is hard. The more people give their blood samples for the blood bank, the better are his chances.

The procedure is as follows. First, one gives a sample of blood (about 15 cc), similar to a routine blood tests one does at Kupat Holim once in a while. Then, if the blood matches one of the people who requires bone marrow transplantation, the procedure of the actual bone marrow harvesting takes place, which either involves a minor surgery, or a blood transfer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bone_marrow#Donation_and_transplantation_of_bone_marrow).

One can get himself added to the blood bank in either of two ways:
1. Visit Tel-Hashomer hospital during the morning (I beleive, they are only open till 9:40) - call 03-5302829 for details
2. Visit the Ezer Mezion branch - requires a donation of 180 NIS (http://www.ami.org.il/default.asp?V_DOC_ID=2451)

People from other countries can give the test samples as well - there is a global database of samples. The details for the US are at http://www.marrow.org/ .
